The “2011 ICC Cricket World Cup” is to be co-hosted by three South-Asian countries: Bangladesh, India and Srilanka.
This is the first time for Bangladesh to host a Cricket World Cup. On the top of it, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup Opening Ceremony will also be held in Bangladesh.
ICC allotted two venues in Bangladesh to host the 2011 Cricket World Cup matches. The Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in the capital of Dhaka and the Divisional Stadium in the port city of Chittagong – this two venues has been decided to play the matches at.
The Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka with 35,000 seats has been an international cricket venue for several years. The opening match of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup between Bangladesh and India (a Group-B match) is scheduled to be played here on 19th February, 2011. The stadium with also host three other Group-B matches including two quarters finals on 23 and 25 March, 2011 respectively.
Chittagong’s Divisional Stadium with 20,000 seats will host two other Group-B matches. In one of them Bangladesh Team will play against England which is scheduled on 11 March, 2011.
We hope and wish that Bangladesh will host the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup successfully and will make it a memorable one to everyone.
Diary from Bangladesh wishes everyone, tourists or natives, a enjoyable Cricket World Cup and a happy and safe stay in Bangladesh.
