Lonely Planet Ranks Bangladesh Number One in their Best Value Destinations-2011

Lonely Planet, owned by BBC Worldwide is considered as one of the leading travel guidebooks in the world. The guidebook has listed Bangladesh as “the Best Value Destination for 2011″. The following places in this list are: Nicaragua, Washington DC, Paris, Namibia, Philippines, Argentina, Napels, Ukraine and Syria. Lonely Planet make use of the “knowledge, passion and miles travelled” by it’s staff, authors, and 600,000 existing strong online communities to prepare the list. The list has been included in their Best in Travel 2011 publication.

Analyzing the recent editions of the list, it can be said that the list is mainly based on “travelers getting their money’s worth”. Previously, Bangladesh was named as one of the 10 Interesting Destinations in 2009, where it was described as a “revelation that actually leaves cousin India looking a bit worse for wear.”

Every few years Lonely Planet also publishes travel guidebooks on individual countries. The last edition on Bangladesh was published in 2008 in which “Bangladesh was described as a can-do country of open-hearted people, tigers, tea plantations and the world’s longest beach.” It also paid tribute to the country’s quick recoveries after natural disasters many times. Lonely Planet introduced Bangladesh in their website as “a trend-setting, breathtaking and hardworking country that others can learn from”.
The next edition travel guidebook on Bangladesh is expected to be published in November 2011.
